Support Community Trails for Challenging Times This #GivingTuesday

We have a present for you this holiday season! We have opened new outdoor spaces that will provide a respite from long winter hours indoors. We have completed two sections of the new Riverfront Trail-- accessible walking paths that can be enjoyed year-round-- bringing us even closer to reaching our dream of building an interconnected town-wide trail system just steps from downtown Great Barrington. From the Riverfront Trail, you can continue on to the Housatonic River Walk (check the website for winter closures). During the winter, you can continue to explore (with or without snowshoes or skis!) the Lake Mansfield Conservation Forest Trails, Pfeiffer Arboretum, and Threemile Hill Trail at Fountain Pond. Please observe our COVID-19 Trail Rules to keep everyone safe.

This year we revamped our special programs to meet the challenges of COVID-19. This spring we held a Tree Seed Photo Challenge highlighting native tree species and providing families with fun nature-focused activities to do at home. This summer we shared a virtual wild edible tour of Housatonic River Walk led by Russ Cohen (you can find the videos on our website). This fall we organized our first virtual Run for the Hills to encourage Individuals, teams, and families to reach personal health goals and show support for the local businesses and landscapes we love.

The Great Barrington Land Conservancy has remained dedicated to our mission to preserve our community’s natural places and allow opportunities for families and visitors to safely experience and explore the outdoors on our trails.

This Giving Tuesday, we are calling on you to support these trails by supporting GBLC. Your tax-deductible gift to the Great Barrington Land Conservancy shows your commitment to creating and preserving these special places for generations to come. Every act of generosity counts!

We are so thankful for your continued support of this important work to protect the lands and waters that surround us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Stay safe, enjoy the outdoors, and take care of one another.
