Habitat Restoration - Volunteers at Lake Mansfield!

On Saturday April 4th a great group of GBLC volunteers (10 in all, from age 3 to 70ish) handily completed a first round of invasive plant management on the lakeside trail at Lake Mansfield. While we worked we witnessed the early budding and blooming stages of willows, hazelnuts, blueberries, and spicebush. We focused weed management on barberry, multiflora rose and buckthorn. The Great Barrington DPW will help by taking away a couple large piles of plant cuttings near the boat launch. Along with cutting invasives, we even had time to plant a few red maple saplings!
