Great Barrington's newly transformed Lake Mansfield beach and recreation path will open on Monday - Berkshire Eagle, Heather Bellow
" GREAT BARRINGTON — Lake Mansfield beach — with its safe and easy drop-off point for families loaded down with coolers and beach toys — will be ready for action come Monday, just in time for the Fourth of July holiday.
The Lake Mansfield Recreation Area, which is reopening to the public after a yearslong redevelopment project, also features more and better parking, and a freshly paved bike and walking path around the side of the lake complete with openings for fishing and a few benches for sitting along the way."
On July 1st and 2nd Greenagers Crew Members and have been hired by GBLC to help with a number of tasks: roping of sensitive habitat areas, re-installing the Ruth Meier memorial bench, painting trash/recycle bins, trail trimming and raking, battling invasive forest plants, weeding planting native plants in the Christian Hill entry way. As always, Great Barrington Land Conservancy is focused on stewardship of the Lake and Forest trails and habitat. Invasive species removal will be a focus for the summer. In the fall, and for the next few years, we will be engaging volunteers in the planting of native species along the lake and forest edge.
