The Great Barrington Land Conservancy is authorized under state law to protect special places in our town from development. Since 1992, we have worked with individual landowners to conserve and protect from further development hundreds of acres of natural areas, wildlife habitats, and agricultural lands. Many know us because of the development of the miles of public walking and hiking trails at Housatonic River Walk, Threemile Trail at Fountain Pond, Pfeiffer Arboretum, and the Lake Mansfield Conservation Forest Trails. We hope to add new trails and natural areas to our stewardship in the coming months and years.
If you own property that could be the subject of a conservation restriction, we would be happy to discuss this with you. You may be able to realize certain federal and state tax abatements as a result. Learn More

There are other ways you can support the work of GBLC. You may be interested in becoming a trail volunteer through our Great Barrington Trails and Greenway program.
In addition, we actively partner with all other land conservancy, wildlife preservation and natural waterways organizations. Please read the complete list, support those organizations and participate in their programs.
