River Walk says Thank You to Big Y Volunteers!

An amazing team of 18 Volunteers from Great Barrington and Lee stores teamed up to make a big difference at River Walk. They were welcomed by the GBLC River director Christine Ward and RW Greenagers Internship leaders Elia DelMolino and Jonah Gray.  Big Y Employee Service Representative, Carla Russo and Dena Welch helped to organize this powerful day of service.

Together we accomplished and enormous spring effort! We emptied our huge compost bin into pickup trucks so that this organic material can be used in local composting facilities, installed a new length of split rail fence to increase protection of the fragile riverbank area, and raked the area near the newly built bittersweet enclosure build to protect the Bridge Street Red Oak Tree. SEE PHOTOS!

Thankyou Big Y partners!  You contributed over 60 volunteer hours for the care of River Walk, what a wonderful way to contribute to community and an early way to celebrate Earth Day!
