It was 15 degrees, but the wind was mild, as a hearty group of GBLC Board members and friends teamed up to prepare for a community Snow Moon Walk. Early set up included warming up mulled cider and hot cocoa on the Barrett's propane stove.  Trevor Hoffman, our GBLC student Rep., set up his family pop-up and worked with friends to shovel away the deep snow to create the refreshment area. The Bradley's brought along wood and their solo wood stove so that a contained fire could help keep folks warm before and after their walks. Folks were dressed warmly! Boots and ski pants were perfect for deep snow conditions! Gloves, scarves and hats covered and exposed skin areas. At 5:30 we gathered to learn about ice conditions and best routes for our evening 's full moon excursions.  Dale Abrams shared an explanation about the slushy ice conditions. Then focusing on wildlife, he talked about the native owls to be heard on a winter's night.  It was a hoot!

Three routes of varying length and difficulty provide all visitors with a comfortable adventure. And off we went through the squeaky snow as the soft pink twilight deepened into a sapphire blue sky and the full moon rose from behind the white pines.

Returning adventurers found warm drinks and donuts and cookies to enjoy around a glowing fire  - A wonderful way to complete the winter’s night adventure. Gathered round the fire, folks could chat and share their impressions of the night.
