On Tuesday March 24th a group of 11 students from the W.E.B Du Bois Middle School arrived at the W.E.B Du Bois Rain Garden Park to learn about River Walk, Du Bois, William Stanley, and the Housatonic River. The group visit was provided through Greenagers Middle School After School Program and led by education director Aretha Whitehead.
Students were met by Greenagers Conservation Director Elia Del Molino and River Greenager Trail Coordinator Jonah Gray. After learning about the community action that led to the creation of River Walk and the thousands of volunteers that created and maintain the trail, they pitched in! Together they removed large woody branches from the compost enclosure and flipped the organic matter to help with its decomposition.
Three cheers for these middle school volunteers and Greenager leaders!
